November 20th was the date of Scotch Ireland's annual banquet. A great dinner was enjoyed by all present and an outstanding program followed. Scotch Ireland has initiated a program of presenting the BIBLE (with Bible lecture) to those members who were raised before the Bible presentation became a part of our third degree. This presentation is to be given to one or two masons each year at the annual banquet until all who wish to receive it have been given the presentation. Two very worthy brothers were the recipients this year. It was well received as a part of the program. HOORAY AGAIN FOR SCOTCH IRELAND !!!!

Scotch Ireland Lodge hosted a "HALLOWEEN PRTY" last evening. It was my first time to attend but I understand they do this every year. Some ten or twelve masons and their wives gathered at the lodge at 4:00 PM and started preparatons. Within an hours time the popcorn popper ws set up, candy, soft drinks and hot chocolate were ready for the young and old gouls and gobblins. The volunteers sat down to a hot dog dinner with varied cakes, cookies and sweets. Soon the great numbers of "trick or treaters" started to arrive and I do mean great numbers. Some three to five hundred children of all ages came by for free popcorn, hot chocolate, cold drinks and assorted candies. A great time was had by all. Various lodge members and their wives contributed the food and goodies. I look forward to next year's event. It was all just for fun! Hooray for SCOTCH IRELAND!!!!!!!!!

Last evening, (Oct.15, 2009) Eureka 283 enjoyed a family evening out at Captain's Galley Seafood Restauraunt. The food was excellent, the ladies lovely and very good fellowship was enjoyed by all. This is becoming a most enjoyable occasion recently started by several of the lodges. TRY IT YOU MAY LIKE IT!

The great responsibility of electing the officers of your lodge is rapidly approaching. This duty and responsibility should not be taken lightly. Our lodges will be effective an progress just as we are led by our officers. Original thinking, progressive ideas and leadership are among those things which should be considered. Let us think clearly, choose wisely and always with the idea of being helpful to the officers we elect as we go through this election process. Appointed officers are of no less importance because they will most likely one day be our leaders.

Several of the lodges in the district are now participating in regular masonic education programs. The offering of suggested programs by the grand lodge masonic education committee seems to have stimulated interest in these programs. Participants in the production of these little informative skits are enjoying the programs and providing good information for all concerned. Hope the good work continues.

A few of the lodges in the district have enjoyed the family nights and dinners with our masonic brothers and their families. It's a fun thing for us and our families.
